Siemens Artis Zee Cath Lab Tube and Detector Guide

Siemens' Artis Zee digital cath labs are the lastest generation in their interventional radiology line and, just as you'd expect, they offer some areas of growth and change in technology and user experience over their predecessors, the Axiom Artis labs. There is at least one thing, however, that has not changed: there are a lot of different configurations and a lot of different tubes and detectors to go with them.

Before You Choose a Tube or Detector

Be aware that Artis Zee labs don't have the same naming convention as Axiom labs- the one where there's a three-letter code that tells you how it's mounted and whether it's for cardiac or angiography, à la dFC, dTA, etc. They are all simply known as "Artis Zee".

It's also worth noting that the numbers in the names of the detectors do not correlate with their size, i.e.- the Pixium 4700 is the larger 30cm x 40cm detector, while the Pixium 4800 is the smaller 20cm x 20cm detector. There is a third detector type, the Pixium 4810, which is a 20cm x 20cm detector for use only on systems with magnetic navigation (mag nav).

When selecting a detector, note that some detector types are intended to work with certain features like DSA or Mag Nav. If your system has these features, be sure your next detector supports them!
