How to Adjust the Steering on an OEC 9800 C-Arm
Do the wheels shimmy? Does the handle wiggle? Is it just getting harder to make turns? We're not talking about the tie rods on your '03 Ford Focus (there's a different blog for that). We're talking about the chain-driven steering mechanism on your OEC 9800 C-arm.
Every so often, the steering linkage in a 9800 can get a little slack in it. When this happens, it takes longer for the steering handle to engage and makes your steering sloppy. Fortunately, adjusting the chain back to its proper tension is a relatively simple task that could potentially be taken care of by your on-site maintenance team.
