Succinctly: new c-arm tables range in price from $6,000 to $45,000. Now, while you’re probably thrilled to get your answer up front, you’re probably also left wondering if there’s anything we can do to help you better understand why the price range is so enormous. Succinctly: there is.
The best guide for how much you should expect to pay for a new or used C-arm table is the number of movements the table is capable of.
C-Arm Table Price Range
The general rule of C-arm table pricing is: more movements = higher price. For each number of movements, there is a corresponding price bracket. The image below, courtesy of Streamline C-arm Tables, demonstrates the movements. At the top of the range are vascular float-top tables. These tables can be positioned in all the same ways as a 5-movement table, but are hand-controlled for the precision and speed that are necessary in certain vascular procedures..
C-Arm Table Price Brackets
Below are the current average price brackets for each type of C-arm table. Where an individual table falls within each bracket is largely dependent on its age.
Fixed Height C-Arm Table (no movements): $6,000 - $8,000
1-Movement C-Arm Table: $8,500 - $11,000
2-Movement C-Arm Table: $9,500 - $12,000
3-Movement C-Arm Table: $10,500 - $13,000
4-Movement C-Arm Table: $13,500 – $16,000
5-Movement C-Arm Table: $17,500 - $22,000
Float-Top C-Arm Table: $24,000 - $45,000
Other factors that will affect the cost of a C-arm table include bariatric certification (1,000-pound capacity) and accessories like stirrups, side rails, or arm boards.
Can a Used C-Arm Table Save Me Money?
The answer to this questions is a big maybe. As we demonstrated above, the range on new tables is pretty wide. An entry-level, fixed height table costs between 6k and 8k. At this price point the cost difference between new and used is negligible, especially when you consider the manufacturer's warranty. Most manufacturers are selling new tables with warranties of 3-years, 4-years, or more. And, of course, these are straight from the factory with new pads and fresh paint. Even if you pay 30 - 40% less for a used C-arm table of this type, your savings are marginal.
However, when you move into higher tiers with tables that have 3 or 4 movements, the case for a used C-arm table becomes more compelling- when you can find one. Supply is limited because many imaging centers update their C-arm technology, but keep their tables. This results in a relatively small number of used C-arm tables on the market, often older units.
Where the most significant savings can be had is the high-end tier of vascular float-top tables. A 30 - 40% cost delta on a $30,000 - $40,000 table really starts to impact the bottom line. The same scarcity you see in lower tiers still applies, but these are much "hotter" deals when you can find them.
When a used C-arm table is offered for sale, there are a few factors that are particularly important to note:
- Vintage- How old is the unit?
- Condition of pad- Any tears? Loose stitching?
- Availability of support- does the manufacturer still support the model? How easy are replacement parts to come by?
